Gizzi, Hancock and McClain Claim All-American Status at Outdoor Nationals

ALLENDALE, Mich. | The 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships wrapped up on Saturday, and all three of The University of Alabama in Huntsville's qualifying student-athletes came away as All-Americans including Zach Hancock in the shot put, Wilson McClain in 110-meter hurdles, and Michael Gizzi in 100 meters and 200 meters.
 
This is the most individual All-Americans in UAH program history with the trio garnering a total of five All-American honors at 2022 Outdoor Nationals. Additionally, UAH had its highest team finish in program history as Gizzi, Hancock and McClain combined for 20 points to finish 14th at Outdoor Nationals.
 
A native of Madison, Alabama, Hancock capped off his incredible collegiate career with a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a program-record toss of 18.77 meters. He garners First Team All-American honors in both the shot put and discus for the first time in his career.
 
McClain captured his second career Outdoor All-American award in 110-meter hurdles as a First Team honoree in 2022 with a sixth-place time of 14.11. He is the only Charger in program history to earn All-American in a running event in back-to-back seasons.
 
Gizzi capped off a stellar start to his collegiate career, earning First Team All-American in both the 100-meter sprint and 200-meter dash. He first garnered seventh in the 100-meter race at a time of 10.57, before following it up with a seventh-place clocking of 20.72 in the 200-meter competition.
 
Overall in Outdoor Nationals history, UAH has accrued 14 All-Americans in individual events.
