HUNTSVILLE | The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team is back in action at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall with two home games this week against Montevallo on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and West Alabama on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Chargers will be honoring the nation's heroes on Saturday as part of Military Appreciation Day at Spragins Hall, presented by AUSA and Lockheed Martin.

UAH starts out the week's slate with a 14-5 overall record and a 9-4 mark in Gulf South Conference play, following an 83-78 loss at Auburn Montgomery on Saturday. The Chargers are currently tied for fourth in the GSC standings with their 9-4 league record.

Chaney Johnson was recently named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List, as he leads the Blue & White and ranks in the top 10 in the conference with 15.7 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Johnson paces a group of four Chargers averaging 10 points or more per game, which also includes
Luke Burnett (12.1 PPG),
CJ Williamson (11-4 PPG), and
Max Shulman (10.4 PPG). Burnett and Shulman additionally rank in the top 15 in the GSC in three-point percentage at 38.0 percent and 34.2 percent, respectively.

Montevallo holds an 8-10 overall record and a 6-8 mark in league play so far, after falling to West Georgia on Saturday by a score of 92-83. The Falcons are guided by first-year head coach Anthony Komara, who previously served as associate head coach at UAH. Komara's offense is led by Braxton Bertolette with 20.5 points per game.

West Alabama owns a 13-4 overall record and a 9-4 record in GSC action, after most recently falling at Montevallo at home on Wednesday by an 84-82 score. The Tigers offense averaged 75.1 points per game, led by Shardarrion Allen at 14.3 points per contest.

UAH holds all-time series records of 42-38 against Montevallo and 57-27 against West Alabama.

After this week's homestand, the Chargers hit the road at Shorter next Thursday and Lee next Saturday.
