KANSAS CITY, Mo. | The National Association of Basketball Coaches announced its 2022-23 NABC Division II All-District Teams on Monday, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville men's basketball team was represented by
Chaney Johnson as a First Team All-South District honoree.

Johnson has now been honored as a First Team All-South Region honoree by both the D2CCA and NABC.

The GSC Player of the Year this season, Johnson led the Chargers to a GSC regular season championship and an at-large berth to the NCAA South Regional with a team-high 15.9 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game. He finished the season ranked in the top eight in scoring and rebounding in the GSC.

A native of Alabaster, Alabama, Johnson recorded a double-double with points and rebounds three times in the 2022-23 campaign, while scoring over 20 points on seven occasions including a season-high 29 against West Alabama on Nov. 28.

This season, he became the program's 31st player to eclipse 1,000 points in his career as he has 1,171 career points following the 2022-23 campaign.

UAH finished the season 27-8 overall and 19-5 in Gulf South Conference play, as the Chargers reached the NCAA South Region Championship game for the seventh time in program history.
