BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Gulf South Conference announced its weekly men's outdoor track & field award winners, and The University of Alabama in Huntsville was represented by Michael Gizzi as GSC Track Athlete of the Week.
 
This is Gizzi's first career GSC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor.
 
A native of Covington, Georgia, Gizzi posted the fastest 100-meters time in NCAA Division II at the Lee Invitational on Saturday with a clocking of 10.23 for first place in the event.
 
Gizzi additionally was a member of the UAH's 4x100 meters relay team that generated a first-place and NCAA provisional time of 40.74, which ranks 12th in Division II entering the weekend.
 
UAH looks ahead to the Flames Invitational next week in Cleveland, Tennessee.
