Track & Field Combines for Three NCAA Provisional Performances in First Indoor Action of 2024-25

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. & BOSTON, Mass. | The UAH men's and women's track & field teams opened the 2024-25 indoor season at the Birmingham Icebreaker Invitational and the Boston University Season Opener this weekend.
 
Boston University Season Opener Notable Performance
-Sam Wilhelm broke the program record in the men's 5000-meter race at a time of 13:42.90 on Saturday for 50th place in the field of primarily Division I runners. His time Saturday tops the previous school-best in 5000 meters which Wilhelm himself set at 13:57.88 last season.
 
Birmingham Icebreaker Notable Performances
-UAH garnered two of the top four finishers in the women's 200-meter dash including Jordyn Dortch in second at 24.42 and Amiah Murry in fourth at 24.53. Both runners' times topped the NCAA provisional standard.
-Grace Hampel placed fourth overall in the women's 800 meters at a time of 2:19.71.
-Wes Egalite posted the top time in the men's 60-meter hurdles preliminary round at a clocking of 8.21. He went on to earn sixth in the finals at 8.48.
-Ivy Teachey was the second-highest placing Division II runner in the women's 60-meter hurdles, as she finished 16th overall at a clocking of 9.12.
-UAH's 4x400 meters relay women's team of Dortch, Murry, Summer Sutherland and Aniya Johnson earned second place with a time of 3:54.13.
-Jadlyn Debardlabon notched second place in the women's long jump at 5.62 meters.
