FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. | The UAH men' basketball team embarks on the program's 16th appearance at the NCAA Division II tournament with a first-round matchup as the fourth seed against fifth-seeded Embry-Riddle at 6:30 p.m. CT at the 2024 NCAA Division II South Region Championships hosted on the campus of top-seeded Nova Southeastern.

The Chargers earned their sixth straight NCAA South Region berth and the fifth under head coach
John Shulman after posting a 21-10 overall record in the regular season that included a 17-7 mark in Gulf South Conference games.

This will be the third straight year UAH and Embry-Riddle have matched up in the NCAA tournament, with the Chargers winning the most recent meeting in 2023. Overall, UAH is 1-2 all-time against ERAU.

Last season after topping Embry-Riddle in the first round, UAH defeated West Alabama to advance to the NCAA South Region championship game for the seventh time in program history.

UAH is guided by a trio of Second Team All-GSC performers, including
Luke Burnett,
Jack Kostel and
Tommy Murr. Burnett and Murr lead the Chargers offense and rank in the top 10 in the GSC in scoring at 16.0 points per game and 16.5 points per game, respectively.

A strong all-around performer, Kostel ranks in the top 25 in the GSC with 13.6 PPG, 5.4 rebounds per game, 4.4 assists per game, and 1.6 steals per game.

Overall, UAH's offense is tied for first in the GSC with 81.3 points per game over 31 contests.

Embry-Riddle comes in the NCAA Division II South Region Championships at 21-9 overall and 14-6 in SSC, after reaching the semifinals in the Sunshine State Conference last week. The Eagles average 86.0 points per game, led by Malcolm Whitlow at 16.3 points per contest.

The winner of Saturday night's matchup moves on to play the winner of No. 1 seed Nova Southeastern and No. 8 seed Benedict on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
