Men's Track & Field Ranked First in South Region, Women Fourth

HUNTSVILLE | The UAH men's track & field team improved to second in the USTFCCCA South Region ratings while the women's squad ranks fourth regionally.
 
The Chargers men's team – who rate 30th in NCAA Division II – feature the fastest 5000-meter performance in the South Region at 13:48.09 by Sam Wilhelm. Wilhelm also holds the second-best 10,000-meter time.
 
Thomas Vaughn (pole vault), Wilson McClain (110-meter hurdles), Michael Gizzi (200 meters), Nathan Knox (3000-meter steeplechase) rank second in the South Region as well, while Tommy Rodriguez (400-meter hurdles), Noah Lawler (long jump), Malik Turner (high jump) have the third best marks regionally.
 
UAH's 4x100 meters relay team of Ke'Andre Campbell, Gizzi, McClain, and Rodriguez also are third in the region.
 
The UAH women's squad is highlighted by two of the top marks in the South Region, including Jadlyn Debardlabon in the long jump at 6.12 meters and the Chargers 4x100 meters relay team of Krystalynn Oatman, Zakiria Holifield, Chandler Robinson and Jordyn Dortch at a time of 46.47.
 
UAH's 4x400 meters relay team of Amiah Murry, Aniya Johnson, Robinson and Keziah Mickler are second in the region as well as Dortch in 200 meters, Murry in 400 meters and Emily McMurry in 10,000 meters.
 
The Chargers compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational this weekend, ahead of the 2024 Gulf South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 2-4 in Montevallo, Alabama.
