HUNTSVILLE | The Gulf South Conference announced their yearly awards on Tuesday afternoon and UAH senior Tommy Murr was named GSC Player of the Year, while head coach Mick Hedgepeth garnered GSC Coach of the Year.

Murr is the second Charger in three years to be named GSC Player of the Year as Chaney Johnson won the award in 2022-23. The Athens, Alabama, native is the eighth player in UAH history to earn Player of the Year.

Murr averaged 20.9 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game, and 5.8 assists per game during the season and posted a better-than 50-40-90 statline at 53.4 percent from the field, 41.4 percent from three, and 93.7 percent from the free throw line.

Hedgepeth earned GSC Coach of the Year honors in his inaugural year as head coach of the Chargers and has led the team to a 27-1 record and a 22-0 GSC record. The undefeated conference record is the third in league history, with the last unbeaten record coming in 2005-06.

The team is second in all of NCAA Division II in effective field goal percentage at 60.5 percent and holds the longest winning streak across all divisions in NCAA.

In addition to Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, four Chargers were named All-GSC as Blake Campbell and Murr earned first-team honors, while Luke Burnett and Daniel Saylor took home second-team plaudits.

UAH's four All-GSC performers are the most by any team in the league this season. This is the second straight season in which the Chargers have the most All-GSC honorees.

Campbell was the second-leading scorer for the GSC's second-best scoring offense. The graduate from Cleveland, Tennessee, averaged 5.5 rebounds per game and 3.3 assists per game. He scored 30 or more points in two games this season and over 20 points on eight different occasions.

Burnett – a native of Knoxville, Tennessee – is one of the top three-point shooters in NCAA Division II as he leads the GSC with 98 made three-pointers and is seventh in the conference with a 37.3 three-point percentage. This season he claimed the all-time GSC record for threes made.

Saylor ranked second in the GSC in double-doubles this season with 11 and tied for 19th overall in NCAA D-II in the category. The Pleasant View, Tennessee, native was the top shot blocker in the GSC with 72 on the season (2.6 blocks per game) and ranks third all-time in UAH history for blocks and ninth in GSC history at 153 total blocks.

UAH will play against Lee in the 2025 Truist GSC Championship Quarterfinals on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
